The colors from this beach engagement session are literally a dream! Seriously though, it’s like a box of crayons were magically, and creatively splattered everywhere; it was so lovely, that I am almost considering making beaches a requirement for every engagement session moving forward – HA!
Just when you think I may not find another way to incorporate pink into an engagement session, I do. AND, not only is the prop pink, but it’s the largest prop in the best shade of pink – Barbie Pink. Haha!
But hold on, we will get to that. Let me start at the beginning.
When I decided to travel to Indiana to photograph Lauren and Mike’s engagement session, I knew that we would be photographing their session in two to three locations.
And when I arrived at my hotel room, one of the national parks we had originally hoped to photograph their session in, was unfortunately closed – thanks ‘rona (insert sarcastic eye roll here).
So, naturally, I quickly pivoted my creative juices and hoped to find other amazing locations.
When I arrived the day before their session, I immediately began scrolling through Google images for other locations, and a pink house popped up in my google search. I literally gasped out loud because I knew this location would make an incredible prop for their session. It was perfect!
But even though I thought it was perfect, I wasn’t sure Lauren and Mike would feel the same way about this historical house; so I put the location on the back burner, and eventually we chose a beach location, and one other possible location for their session.
Upon arriving at Kemil Beach in Beverly Shores (I know, how cute does that sound?!), we drove down to a separate beach entrance that was a little more remote than the larger beach access.
As I got out of the car, and began to look around, I saw something pink in my peripheral vision. Could it be?
Yep. You guessed it.
There it was.
The very, very pink, dreamy Barbie DreamHouse – no, that’s not the actual name of the house, but that’s what I am calling it, friends!
And, as soon as I saw the pink house, I said (or rather shreaked), “Oh my gosh, Lauren! Look!”
And then, I exclaimed even louder, “Oh for sure we are starting your session there! It’s going to be amazing!”
And thankfully, Lauren had already considered having this house as a part of their engagement session too – Yayyy! So off we went.
I was completely thrilled and I just knew we would be able to create magic there.
Trust me, when you view their gallery, you will see why I thought this house would make an excellent addition to Lauren & Mike’s engagement session.
Honestly though, these two humans are so kind, bubbly, and full of love for one another. In fact, from the minute I met Lauren, I felt an instant connection with her. She is outgoing, energetic and full of life! I just love her energy, and the deep connection these two share is immeasurable.
I can’t wait to see your love story unfold throughout the years, Lauren & Mike!
Congratulations, once again, on your engagement!
