Don’t let wedding planning get you down – we’ve got solutions for you!
1. Learn to say NO
Planning a wedding is exciting and so much fun, but it can also be one of the busiest times of your life. If you don’t want to end up being a complete, nervous wreck a week before your big day, learn to prioritize and say no to any new commitments that would take away from other important wedding-related tasks. And guess what? Give yourself permission to say no every now and then – especially when your mental health is at stake!
2. Become the Queen or King of Organization
Organization is the key. The more organized you are, the better your wedding planning experience will be. Start by keeping a digital copy of all of your important documents, contracts, and information in one file on your computer so that you can easily refer back to them as needed .
Pro-tip: You may want to have that same file saved on your fiance’s computer, as well.
If you want to bring those important documents along to your meetings with vendors, you can always create a wedding binder that contains all of the information you need, or keep a file in your email with all of the digital copies so you can easily access them from your smart phone. Plus, these make great back-up copies too!
3. Have a Little fun
There’s no need for you to be a frazzled bride or couple! Take out your calendar and schedule a few fun days in-between all of your planning. In fact, you should make fun and laughter a priority in the weeks leading up to your wedding!
Because sometimes it’s important to come back down to earth and remember why you’re choosing to marry your partner! Additionally, trying to control every single aspect of your day is only going to leave you wishing it was over.
Seriously though, go out and enjoy an afternoon with your gal pals or guy friends, and promise not to talk about your wedding at all! It will make all the difference in the world to you, and to your friends too.
4. Move your Body
Science has proven that exercise improves your mental state; when you’ve got a lot on your plate, and you just need a breather, and a chance to focus on your mental health, exercise can make a world of difference!
This doesn’t mean that you need to schedule in an hour at the gym every day either. If you’re strapped for time, a simple 15-20 minute walk, or yoga session will make all the difference to your stress and energy levels. In the words of Nike – JUST DO IT!
5. Just Breathe
Take a complete timeout from wedding planning as often as you need. Every bride or couple deserves a relaxing soak in the tub, or a heavenly hot stone massage, to relieve some of the tension they might be feeling. It can be difficult to make time to simply relax, but do your best to find the time, even if it’s just 30 minutes a week.
Or just simply meditating for 10 minutes daily (there are plenty of apps out there to help with this!) I promise you – it can really bring your perspective back to a positive place, and help you remember your reasons why you are planning your wedding in the first place.
